The Trinity river is another great salmon and steelhead fishing destination that salmon and steelhead fishing guide Dave Jacobs charters his clients on. Located just 30 minutes West of Redding, California this river flows over 150 miles through rugged terrain making it the largest tributary to the Klamath River. This river also hosts two runs of king salmon and steelhead can be found here all year long. The Trinity River gives anglers chances to catch salmon and steelhead on both conventional and fly fishing gear. It is known as one of the best river’s in the country that anglers can catch a steelhead on the fly rod due to it’s record breaking returns of both hatchery and wild steelhead. This river flows through and near small California towns like Lewiston, Douglas City, the old mining community of Weaverville, Junction City, Big Bar, Big Flat, Del Loma, Burnt Ranch, Willow Creek and through the scenic Hoopa Valley gorge where it joins the Klamath River at Weitchpec. Whichever you choose, a driftboat float for salmon and steelhead or a white water rafting excursion, a day spent here can be one of Northern California’s great fishing and rafting destinations.
